Microsoft Logs $3.2 Billion Gain from Anthropic Investment

Microsoft recorded a $3.2 billion gain from its investment in Anthropic during the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2026, which ended on June 30.

Microsoft has reported a significant gain of $3.2 billion from its investment in AI lab Anthropic for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2026, which concluded on June 30. This gain contributed 33 cents to the company's diluted earnings per share, which stood at $4.81 for the quarter.

In contrast, Microsoft's investment in OpenAI saw a write-down of approximately $600 million during the same quarter, reducing diluted earnings per share by about 7 cents. Microsoft owns around 27% of OpenAI.

Despite the quarterly decline in its OpenAI investment value, the full fiscal year 2026 showed a $5 billion gain from OpenAI, adding $0.67 to the company's annual earnings per share of $17.95. Microsoft's total revenue for the year was $331.8 billion, with a net income of $133.7 billion.
