Andrew Cornish, the chief executive of Middlesex County Cricket Club, has been dismissed following a misconduct complaint. An independent disciplinary panel, the Cricket Disciplinary Panel (CDP), found against him after an investigation. The misconduct allegations are not regarded as a criminal matter and have not been passed to the Metropolitan police.
Cornish had denied any wrongdoing and is exploring his legal options. The decision to dismiss him comes after a tumultuous period for the club, which has experienced large financial losses and a legal battle with its former chief executive, Richard Goatley. In September 2023, Middlesex was given a suspended points deduction and fined £50,000 by the England and Wales Cricket Board for breaching financial regulations.
The club appointed two interim chief executives to cover for Cornish over the past eight months, including the MCC's chief operating officer, Mahdi Choudhury, and the former head of British Cycling, Julie Harrington. Harrington is a serious contender to take over on a permanent basis and will face Middlesex members for the first time alongside the chair, Richard Sykes, at a fans' forum event next Tuesday.
