A Canadian airport worker, Oscar Robayo, 39, has died after being struck by a passenger jet at YUL Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. The incident occurred on Monday evening during ground operations.
Mr Robayo, a ramp agent for Samsic, was hit by Flight BF5761, an Airbus A350 operated by French bee, as it prepared for a flight to Paris-Orly. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union named Mr Robayo and described his death as a “tragic accident.”
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) and the Quebec coroner’s office are investigating the incident. French bee stated it is cooperating with Canadian authorities to establish the exact circumstances of the accident, which occurred during the aircraft pushback operation.
Aeroports de Montreal expressed its condolences and announced a minute’s silence was held on Wednesday afternoon in Mr Robayo's honour.
