Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell died from multi-organ failure after suffering complications from necessary surgeries, an inquest has heard. The Welsh rock star, who was the band's guitarist from 1984 until 2015, died on 13 March at the age of 64.

St Pancras Coroner's Court heard on Friday that Campbell's death could not have been prevented. Coroner Dr Richard Brittain recorded the cause of death as multi-organ failure, stating it resulted from "recognised complications of necessary surgical procedures".

Campbell, from Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, underwent two liver transplants and bowel surgery at the Royal Free Hospital in London earlier this year. Although a second liver transplant was successful, he experienced further complications, leading to bowel surgery and a rapid deterioration in intensive care.
