Network Rail has launched a £250,000 grant scheme for local organisations, with the aim of supporting community projects and enhancing rail services. The funding, which will be allocated over the next 12 months, is part of the rail operator's commitment to investing in local communities. With grants ranging from £5,000 to £50,000 available, organisations can apply for support that will deliver tangible benefits to both the community and the rail network.
The grant scheme is now open for applications, with a deadline of 30 June 2024 for submissions. Organisations interested in applying should visit the Network Rail website for more information and to download an application form. As part of its support, Network Rail will provide guidance to applicants throughout the application process. In addition to this initiative, the rail operator has also pledged £1.5 billion towards the rail network over the next five years, focusing on performance improvement, reduced delays, and enhanced passenger experience.
Local community leaders have welcomed the grant scheme, seeing it as a chance to secure vital funding for projects that will benefit their communities. 'We are delighted to see Network Rail investing in local communities through this grant scheme,' said Councillor Sarah Jones, Leader of the Local Authority. 'This funding has the potential to make a real difference to our residents' lives and help build a stronger, more resilient community.'
