  • The film was produced in partnership with Aardman, the Environment Agency, and East Sussex County Council.
  • It is part of Flood Action Week, encouraging people to check flood risk and sign up for warnings.
  • The government has committed to safeguarding 200,000 properties from flooding.

A new film titled 'Missy and Stanley's Tale' has been launched today, 12 October, to help people understand their flood risk and the support available. The film was created in partnership with Aardman, the Environment Agency, and East Sussex County Council.

Its launch is part of Flood Action Week, a national campaign by the Environment Agency. The campaign encourages individuals to check their flood risk, sign up for flood warnings, and take steps to protect their property ahead of a heightened risk of flooding this winter.

The Environment Agency has also launched 'Flood Action Online', a resource providing flood advice and access to Met Office weather alerts. Floods Minister Emma Hardy stated that 'Missy and Stanley’s Tale' supports the ambition for the country to be ready for and resilient to flooding and coastal erosion.

The government has committed to safeguarding 200,000 properties from flooding, which is expected to deliver an economic benefit of £27.9 billion in avoided damage.

Why this matters: The new film and 'Flood Action Online' aim to help communities understand and prepare for flood risks, potentially reducing damage and aiding recovery.

What this means for you: You can check your flood risk, sign up for flood warnings, and find advice on protecting your property through the new 'Flood Action Online' resource.
