New Homes Ombudsman Complaints Triple in a Year

Complaints to the New Homes Ombudsman have increased threefold in the past year, with a rise in compensation awarded to homeowners.

The New Homes Ombudsman has reported a threefold increase in complaints over the past year. The service handled 1,802 cases in 2024/25, a significant rise from 593 cases in the preceding year.

During the same period, the total compensation awarded to homeowners by the Ombudsman nearly tripled, increasing from approximately £67,000 to almost £215,000. The Ombudsman also noted that a higher proportion of these cases were decided in favour of homeowners.
