New Non-Executive Directors Appointed to Financial Conduct Authority Board

Lea Paterson CBE and Matthew Tobin have been appointed as Non-Executive Directors to the Board of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), with their initial three-year terms set to begin on 1 October 2026.

Lea Paterson CBE brings experience as a non-executive director and executive leader, with a background in regulation, central banking, and financial journalism. Her previous roles include Economics Editor at The Times and senior positions at the Bank of England.

Matthew Tobin is a senior financial services lawyer and former Partner at Slaughter and May. He has over 20 years of experience advising HM Government, regulators, and major financial institutions on systemic risk and market interventions.

The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Lucy Rigby KC MP, expressed pleasure at the appointments, stating that the FCA would benefit from their expertise. Ashley Alder, Chair of the FCA Board, also welcomed them, noting their experience and perspectives would guide the FCA's work during an important time for consumers, markets, and the wider economy.
