British Steel has secured a massive new supply deal with Network Rail worth hundreds of millions of pounds, safeguarding thousands of jobs across its UK operations. The five-year agreement will see the company provide 500,000 tonnes of rail to maintain and upgrade Britain's railway network.
The steel will be manufactured at British Steel's Scunthorpe plant and processed at facilities in Skinningrove, Teesside, and Hayange, France. The materials will support essential track renewals and major infrastructure projects aimed at boosting capacity and reliability across the country's rail system.
Transport Secretary Mark Harper announced the deal, which extends a decade-long partnership between the two organisations.
