A new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel, 'Sense and Sensibility', has been released, featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles in the lead roles as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood. This latest interpretation is noted for its more downbeat and thoughtful tone, differing from the 1995 film directed by Ang Lee.
The film, directed by Georgia Oakley with a script by Diana Reid, focuses on the financial and romantic crises faced by the Dashwood family. Caitríona Balfe plays Mrs Dashwood, who insists on moving to Devon to avoid the indignity of her daughter appearing to be a gold-digger.
George MacKay portrays Edward Ferrars, while Frank Dillane takes on the role of Mr Willoughby. Herbert Nordrum plays Colonel Brandon. Fiona Shaw's performance as the gossipy Mrs Jennings is highlighted, bringing energy to the role.
