Sky Atlantic has premiered 'Possession', a new drama from Karla Crome, known for her acting roles in 'Misfits' and 'You, Me and the Apocalypse'. The series, also available on Now, centres on a £50m inheritance dispute stemming from a Jamaican sugar plantation.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw stars as Claudia, a lawyer tasked with discrediting a previously unknown beneficiary, Cudjoe East, who has been left the entire fortune. The client, who built his wealth from the plantation, unexpectedly cut his only child out of his will.
The narrative unfolds across two timelines: the present-day investigation and 300 years ago, when the estate was run by enslaved people. The drama incorporates a supernatural element, with Claudia experiencing nightmares and encountering spectral presences, as it explores the enduring impact of colonialism and historical injustices.
