Liverpool will not be permitted to host Real Madrid at Anfield in the league phase of this year’s Champions League, following the introduction of new UEFA regulations. This ruling aims to prevent the same exact fixture from being repeated in the competition's league phase for three consecutive seasons.
Real Madrid have visited Anfield in the group stage for the past two seasons. Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory in the 2024-25 season, and Alexis Mac Allister scored the only goal in their encounter the following campaign.
Despite the restriction on home fixtures, Andoni Iraola’s side could still be drawn to visit the Bernabeu in the league phase, as this would not violate the new regulations. The draw for this season’s league phase is scheduled for Thursday at a ceremony in Monaco.
