Police officers and staff across the UK have been recognised in His Majesty's 2026 New Year Honours list, with the National Police Chiefs' Council celebrating their exceptional service and bravery.
The honours acknowledge frontline officers and support staff whose work spans crime prevention, community engagement and national security operations. Recipients include personnel of all ranks who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment, often in dangerous circumstances.
Gavin Stephens, Chair of the NPCC, praised the collective efforts of what he called the "police family". The recognition highlights individuals who have gone above and beyond their duty whilst serving communities across Britain.
The awards, compiled by the Cabinet Office and approved by the King on the Prime Minister's advice, come as police forces grapple with evolving challenges from digital crime to public order maintenance. Officers continue to face increasingly complex demands whilst addressing community concerns nationwide.
The honours not only reward individual excellence but aim to boost morale across the wider police service. They serve as a reminder to the public of the critical role police play in maintaining safety and justice in communities throughout the United Kingdom.
