New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has promoted a lottery offering 2,100 free Broadway tickets to the city's high-school students through multilingual videos. The mayor spoke directly to students in Bengali, Mandarin, and Spanish as part of the campaign.

The initiative, in partnership with the non-profit Theatre Development Fund (TDF), allows selected students to claim up to two tickets for seven different productions. The lottery opened on 13 August and closed at 10am on 17 August. The draw for tickets is scheduled for 1 September.

Mayor Mamdani's language skills have drawn attention, with social media users praising his apparent talent. He previously studied Mandarin at the Bronx High School of Science between 2006 and 2010.
