New Zealand has been identified as the most rested country globally, with its residents averaging more than seven and a half hours of sleep per night. This data comes from a study organised by the World Economic Forum, which analysed information from the Sleep Cycle app.
Countries including Britain, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Australia also report average sleep times exceeding seven and a half hours.
In contrast, Japan records the lowest average sleep duration, with residents getting a little over six hours and 15 minutes of sleep nightly. Saudi Arabia and South Korea follow closely behind.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has declared insufficient sleep a public health problem. The Rand Corporation estimates the US loses approximately 1.2 million working days annually due to inadequate sleep. Even the UK and Germany, despite higher sleep scores, reportedly lose around 200,000 working days each year.
