News Helicopter Crash in Los Angeles Kills Three

A local news helicopter crashed in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, killing two people on board and one person on the ground. The helicopter was covering a separate fatal bus and SUV collision.

A local news helicopter crashed in a Los Angeles neighbourhood on Tuesday evening, resulting in three fatalities. The incident occurred in the Chatsworth area, within the San Fernando Valley, at approximately 7pm local time.

Those killed on board were identified as aerial photojournalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw. Both were reporting for NBC4, the local NBC affiliate. A third person, a pedestrian near the crash site, also died; their identity is currently unknown.

The helicopter was on assignment, covering an earlier fatal collision between a bus and an SUV that occurred around 5pm local time, killing two people and injuring multiple others. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom have expressed condolences following the incidents.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the helicopter crash.
