Three people have died and two others were taken to hospital after a news helicopter crashed in suburban Los Angeles, according to fire authorities. NBC Los Angeles confirmed the helicopter was its NewsChopper4, which also operated for Telemundo 52.
The helicopter was in the Chatsworth neighbourhood on Tuesday, reporting on an earlier fatal bus crash. The station's hosts named the two people on the helicopter who died as Eliana Moreno and George Marciniw. A third victim, who was on the ground, also died but has not been named.
The aircraft crashed just before 19:00 local time (01:00 BST) between two commercial buildings. Fire from the crash spread to four vehicles and two storage containers, with more than 70 firefighters deployed to the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation into the incident.
