A new study indicates that fans attending the upcoming NFL London games are set to contribute more than £90m to the capital's economy. The NFL London Games are returning to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, with the UK preparing to host its 40th, 41st, and 42nd matches since the first game in 2007.
Research by American Express found that fans anticipate spending £453 per match this month, which includes the cost of tickets, travel, and accommodation. More than 90% of those attending are expected to be from outside London. Over two-thirds of 2,000 respondents stated plans to stay in London for at least two or three nights.
The games begin with the Indianapolis Colts facing the Washington Commanders. Subsequently, Shahid Khan's Jacksonville Jaguars will play the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, followed by a match against the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium.
American Express cardmember data showed that total spending last year was 10% higher than the previous year. Analysis by Sports Consultancy Group for the NFL suggests that the 39 matches played in London to date have contributed over £2bn in economic impact.
