NHS trusts and construction partners have signed eleven long-term partnerships today to deliver new hospitals across England. These agreements are a significant step for the New Hospital Programme, moving it into its delivery phase.
The partnerships aim to transform how NHS hospitals are delivered, bringing together trusts and construction organisations to build modern facilities more efficiently. This collaborative approach is designed to ensure hospitals meet the needs of local patients, staff, and communities.
The initiative will support the delivery of Hospital 2.0, a standardised approach combining national standards, digital innovation, and modern construction methods. This is intended to improve quality and productivity, creating safer and more sustainable healthcare environments.
Karin Smyth, Minister of State for Health, stated that the changes streamline procurement processes, allowing new hospitals to be delivered quicker. Natalie Forrest, Chief Programme Officer for the New Hospital Programme, said the Hospital 2.0 Alliance creates a model combining national consistency with local leadership.
