The parliamentary standards investigation into Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, has resumed. The inquiry, led by Daniel Greenberg, the parliamentary commissioner for standards, was paused after Mr Farage resigned from his seat and called a byelection.
The investigation concerns accusations that Mr Farage failed to declare gifts and donations. This includes a £5m gift from Thailand-based businessman Christopher Harborne, given before the last election. Mr Farage has stated he was not in politics when this gift was made.
The inquiry was later expanded to include whether Mr Farage should have declared support from George Cottrell, who reportedly allowed Mr Farage to use one of his London homes and paid for social media filming in 2024.
If found to have broken parliamentary rules and suspended from the Commons for at least 10 sitting days, Mr Farage could face a recall petition.
