A nine-year-old amputee, Albie-Junior Thomas, has met Catherine, Princess of Wales, at Windsor Castle to celebrate his completion of the Three Peaks Challenge. Albie-Junior, from Holywell, Flintshire, was invited for a tea party after his father, Daniel, wrote to the princess detailing his son's achievement.
Albie-Junior finished the Three Peaks Challenge in 22 hours and 30 minutes in August, alongside his father. This included scaling Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales.
The youngster was born without a fibula in his left leg and had his foot removed at 15 months. At four, he became the youngest amputee to climb Yr Wyddfa. Daniel stated that they are planning to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in August next year and intends to contact Guinness World Records regarding Albie-Junior potentially becoming the youngest amputee to achieve this.
