No action is to be taken against an Iranian man who attempted to enter the Faslane nuclear submarine base earlier this year. The 34-year-old was arrested at HM Naval Base Clyde near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, on 19 March, along with a 31-year-old Romanian woman.
The Crown Office stated it had carefully considered the case and decided there should be no further proceedings against the man. It had previously said in March that no proceedings would be brought against the Romanian woman.
The man had been charged but was later released pending further inquiries without appearing in court. The Crown Office added that the procurator fiscal decided no proceedings should be taken at this time, but reserves the right to proceed in the future if further evidence becomes available.
