Red Bull's Max Verstappen qualified in third place. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc secured fourth and fifth positions for Ferrari, while George Russell placed sixth for Mercedes.
Norris expressed surprise at his performance on the challenging track, stating, "I’m shocked and a bit surprised." This marks his second pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix, though he has yet to win the race.
The 3.365-mile Madring circuit, described as a street circuit, has been noted by drivers as potentially making overtaking extremely difficult due to its narrow layout and angled braking zones.
