Northampton Saints have announced the cancellation of their planned memorial wall, which was intended to include the ashes of rugby fans at Franklin's Gardens. The club stated that the initial demand for the project was not sufficient to support its long-term viability.
The Saints Memorial Wall was part of a wider development aimed at enhancing the fan village at the Prem Rugby side's ground. Chief executive Julia Chapman expressed regret over the decision, acknowledging it would be disappointing for some supporters.
Supporters who had already paid for a place on the memorial wall will receive a refund. The club also indicated that it would explore alternative ways for fans to create a lasting legacy at the ground.
