Johannes Kongsnes Natland, from Stavanger, Norway, has been found guilty of travelling to England to carry out a contract killing. The 19-year-old was recruited by the Foxtrot Network, a Swedish organised crime group reportedly linked to the Iranian government.
A jury at the Old Bailey found Natland guilty of conspiracy to murder following a retrial. He had agreed to shoot an unknown person for €25,000 (£21,500) in March last year.
Armed police arrested Natland in a Huddersfield hotel room two days after his arrival in the UK, seizing two guns and ammunition. The Metropolitan Police stated that their counterterrorism officers uncovered evidence showing Natland was aware he was being asked to kill someone.
Natland was remanded into custody by Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb and is due to be sentenced in October.
