Nottingham Forest have launched an ambitious bid to sign Everton's teenage midfielder Harrison Armstrong. Forest are preparing to offer £40m, plus a potential sell-on clause, to secure the 19-year-old before the transfer window closes.
Armstrong has already made 23 appearances for Everton and started in their 2-0 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace last week. He is regarded as an elegant England under-19 star with a promising future.
While Forest hope to pull off the move, it would be a major surprise if Everton sanctioned the deal. The Friedkin Group, Everton's American owners, would risk the fury of their fanbase by selling Armstrong, who is seen as their brightest home-grown prospect in years.
Everton manager David Moyes has expressed frustration over the club's lack of incoming transfer activity this summer. There are currently no indications whether Everton will accept Forest's offer.
