Nottingham Forest have been drawn against Leeds United in an all-Premier League clash as the Carabao Cup second round draw was revealed on Monday night. This marks the entry of top-flight sides not competing in Europe this season into the competition.
Chelsea will play League One Luton at home, and Tottenham Hotspur will host second-tier Charlton Athletic. A further seven Premier League clubs also learned their opponents in the regionalised draw.
Brentford face a trip to second-tier Birmingham City, while Newcastle United are at home to West Bromwich Albion. West Ham, who beat Portsmouth 3-1 in the first round, will play Championship opposition Southampton. Wolves will face Sheffield Wednesday, and Burnley are drawn against Bradford.
The second-round ties are set to be played in the week commencing 24 August. The nine top-flight sides participating in European competitions will join the Carabao Cup in the third round, with those matches scheduled for the weeks commencing 7 September and 14 September.
