NTangible, a company co-founded by CEO Dan Connerty and psychologist Dr. Ed Levine, has developed a psychological assessment called the 'Clutch Factor'. This assessment aims to predict how likely an athlete is to perform effectively under pressure.
The 'Clutch Factor' assessment is inspired by the Thematic Apperception Test, where individuals describe ambiguous situations presented in photos. Responses are scored against a neurolinguistic guide created by psychologists, resulting in a 'clutch factor' score between 0 and 1000.
According to Connerty, an athlete scoring above 750 is twice as likely to commit to a Division I school. He suggests this score could be used in rankings, recruiting, and scholarship discussions. NTangible currently supports testing for nine sports and plans to expand the assessment to corporate settings for evaluating employee performance under pressure.
