A collection of unheard Oasis recordings, estimated to be worth between £1.2m and £1.6m, has been pulled from an auction after the band filed an injunction. Littleton Auctions in Evesham had announced earlier this month that they would be selling the recordings.
The collection includes 63 live shows, soundchecks, and over 100 hours of Noel and Liam Gallagher from the 1990s. These were gathered by Oasis sound engineer Huw Richards, who worked with the band from 1994 to 2001.
Ben Homer, managing director of Littleton Auctions, confirmed the recordings, known as The Desk Tapes, have been withdrawn from the October 3 auction due to legal proceedings. He stated the auction house was "very disappointed" not to offer the archive as planned.
Owain Richards, son of the sound engineer, confirmed that Oasis had sued him and his father to prevent the auction. He added that they have agreed to postpone the auction to allow the legal dispute to be resolved.
The rest of the auction, which includes memorabilia such as tour itineraries, setlists, a band-played Epiphone guitar, and an original Kangol Oasis tour Parka, will proceed as scheduled.
