A collection of unheard Oasis recordings, which includes 63 live shows, hours of rehearsals, and candid conversations between Noel and Liam Gallagher, has been pulled from auction. The withdrawal follows legal action initiated by the band.
Littleton Auctions in Worcestershire, England, had listed the collection in September with a guide price ranging from £1.2m to £1.6m. The recordings were compiled by the band's former sound engineer, Huw Richards, who worked with Oasis from 1994 to 2001.
The collection, known as The Desk Tapes, consists of 209 DAT tapes, 73 analogue cassettes, and three MiniDiscs. Owain Richards, the sound engineer's son, was selling the archive.
Ben Homer, managing director of Littleton Auctions, confirmed the recordings' withdrawal from their October 3 auction due to legal proceedings. Owain Richards stated that Oasis has sued him and his father to prevent the auction, and they have agreed to postpone the sale to resolve the dispute.
The rest of Littleton Auctions' sale, featuring other music memorabilia, will proceed as planned on Saturday.
