Oceania Sonata Cruise Ship Floats Out Ahead of August 2027 Launch

Oceania Cruises has completed the float out of its new ship, Oceania Sonata, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The vessel is anticipated to launch in August 2027.

Oceania Cruises has completed the float out of its new cruise ship, Oceania Sonata, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. This marks a significant stage in its construction, with the ship now moving from dry dock to the fitting-out berth for interior work.

The Oceania Sonata is scheduled for launch in August 2027. It is the first of five new Sonata class ships, with Oceania Arietta expected to join the fleet in 2029. The ship is 86,000 tons and designed to accommodate 1,390 guests, making it almost 30 per cent larger than Oceania Allura.

The vessel will feature 13 dining venues, including La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and a new Peruvian and Japanese fusion restaurant called Nikkei Kitchen. A third of its 695 cabins will be suites, including four Owner’s Suites and eight Vista Suites.

The inaugural season for Oceania Sonata will run from August 2027 until April 2028, offering 22 sailings. These will begin in the Mediterranean during the summer before moving to the Caribbean for the winter season.
