Ombudsman, a five-year-old horse, is set to compete in the Group One Juddmonte International Stakes at York today, 18 August 2026. He is aiming to defend his title and become the first horse since Halling in 1996 to win the Group One prize for a second time.
Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Ombudsman secured a two-length victory in the Group One Dubai Turf in March and began the UK season with a win at Sandown. His performance in the Group One Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot led to him being named the joint top-rated horse in the world with Longines.
Constitution River, who receives a seven-pound weight allowance and has had three successful starts this season, is also expected to run. Forecast rainfall is anticipated to suit Constitution River.
