OpenAI's ChatGPT Work, a platform leveraging AI agents for white-collar professionals, has achieved 20 million users, according to Thibault Sottiaux, OpenAI's head of product. Sottiaux leads all core products, including API, agent infrastructure, enterprise, and all ChatGPT offerings, which encompass ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT classic, as well as Codex.
Sottiaux stated that the goal of ChatGPT Work is to extend the power of coding agents to a wider audience. The platform is designed to be safe, delightful, and accessible on mobile and web, and is included in the $20-a-month Plus plan.
OpenAI views its role as bringing everyone along with AI technology. Sottiaux noted that while Codex was built for a technical audience, the maturity of the technology now allows for diffusion to a much broader population. He highlighted that ChatGPT can perform complex tasks autonomously and safely.
The company focuses on building capable models and integrating them into users' lives in a simple and natural way. Sottiaux mentioned the growth of ChatGPT Voice as an example of this progression towards more natural human interaction with AI.
