Pie, the social app created by Bonobos founder Andy Dunn, has introduced a new 'Community Homes' feature. Launched on Tuesday, this update allows users to create more permanent digital spaces for their social groups within the app.
Originally an events app based in Chicago, Pie aims for these new Community Homes to foster connections where events emerge naturally, rather than being the primary focus. The company states that these digital homepages will provide a platform for organisers and members to build relationships beyond single events.
Each 'home' includes a community feed and group management tools, such as admin controls, membership management, a shareable homepage, and event planning resources. Any member, not just admins, can share events to the group's feed. Pie plans to add group chats and a feature for members to post casual connection requests soon.
This change follows other updates, including a December activity feed alteration that highlighted known attendees at events, which reportedly increased average app usage from 2 to 10 minutes. More recently, Pie launched a 'favorites' feature for users to build public profiles based on interests. The app currently has approximately 300,000 users and is backed by investors including Forerunner, Lightspeed, and Accel.
