String quartet Opus13 has released their debut album, which features a pairing of Mendelssohn and Grieg. The album leads off with Mendelssohn’s Op 13 No 2, the first piece the quartet played together.
The group, which formed in Oslo in 2014 as teenagers, are current BBC New Generation Artists. They were also winners at last year’s Wigmore Hall and Bordeaux string quartet competitions.
The Mendelssohn piece is paired with Grieg’s Quartet No 1. The album also includes a version of Solveig’s Song as an encore, with the arrangement credited to the entire group.
