Cameron Jacobs, a 20-year-old trumpet player from Salisbury, has credited an accessible orchestra with helping him communicate and feel part of a community. Mr Jacobs, who has autism, ADHD, and Tourette's, said joining Orchestras for All seven years ago provided a sense of belonging after experiencing rejection from other groups.
Since joining, Mr Jacobs has become an ambassador for the orchestra and has developed leadership skills. In 2025, he ran the London Marathon to raise money for Orchestras for All, setting a Guinness World Record as the youngest person, at 18, to complete the event barefoot.
Mr Jacobs' mother, Polly, stated that Orchestras for All was the first place that accepted him for his uniqueness. Nick Thorne, executive director of the orchestra, described Mr Jacobs as an integral member who has supported many young people in their musical and life skill development.
Orchestras for All is scheduled to perform a free concert in Salisbury at St Thomas's Church on Saturday at 18:30 BST.
