A cat in Ormskirk, Lancashire, has reportedly stolen 15 packets of food in less than a week, according to its owner. The black cat, named Murtagh and known as Murt, first brought a pouch of stolen food into his home on Wednesday, his owner Meaghan Robertson said.

Despite an appeal to neighbours, Ms Robertson stated she cannot determine the source of the food, which is a different brand from what Murt is fed at home. She described the cat as "shameless" and said he "just keeps helping himself", with more packets appearing daily.

Murt's pilfering has garnered thousands of responses online, with some people commenting that his escapades have brightened their day. Ms Robertson told the BBC she remains puzzled as to why the young cat is stealing snacks, given he is "very well fed at home".
