Ospreys sign former Australia wing Marika Koroibete for 2026-27 season

Former Wallabies wing Marika Koroibete has joined Ospreys for the 2026-27 United Rugby Championship season, becoming their fourth Australian signing this summer.

  • Marika Koroibete, 34, will play for Ospreys in the 2026-27 United Rugby Championship season.
  • He is the fourth Australian player to sign for Ospreys this summer, joining Liam Wright, Lalakai Foketi, and Lawson Creighton.
  • Koroibete previously played for Panasonic Wild Knights for five seasons and earned 63 caps for Australia.

Ospreys have bolstered their squad with the signing of former Wallabies wing Marika Koroibete, making him their fourth Australian addition this summer. The 34-year-old will feature for the Swansea-based side in the United Rugby Championship (URC) during the 2026-27 season.

Koroibete joins Ospreys after five seasons with Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan. He earned 63 caps for Australia, scoring 20 tries, with his last appearance against New Zealand in September 2024. He also participated in the 2019 and 2023 World Cups.

Head coach Mark Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, stating, "I think I speak for everyone involved with the club when I say how happy we are to have added such an explosive talent to our squad." Koroibete himself shared his excitement, saying, "I'm really happy to be joining the Ospreys. I've heard some great things from the boys here already about the team and the environment, so I can't wait to get started."

Koroibete is now eligible to represent Fiji before next year's tournament in Australia. He joins fellow Australians Liam Wright, Lalakai Foketi, and Lawson Creighton, who have also signed for Ospreys, following the impression made by lock Ryan Smith in the 2025-26 season.

Why this matters: The signing of an experienced international player like Koroibete could significantly strengthen Ospreys' squad for the upcoming URC season and potentially aid in the development of younger players.
