Otherwander, a new Japanese-style pod hotel, has opened in London's Soho district, offering accommodation starting from £65 per night. The hotel, which opened six weeks ago, is located in a building that was previously the Soho Hostel.
Fredrik Korallus, CEO of Otherwander, stated that the concept was inspired by Japanese pod hotels from the 1970s, which were designed for the working man. He explained that the aim is to make accommodation in London accessible and affordable for various guests, including businesspeople, global backpackers, city hoppers, and commuters.
The hotel features capsule beds, referred to as "nests," which are two metres long by 90cm wide. Guests can adjust lighting and temperature within their pods. Otherwander is exploring opportunities for expansion with another site planned for London, and teams investigating New York, Edinburgh, and Amsterdam.
