More than 148,000 individuals across Scotland are due to receive their exam results on Tuesday, 4 August 2026. The results, covering Nationals, Highers, Advanced Highers, and Skills for Work Awards, will be issued from 08:00.
The new exams body, Qualifications Scotland, is now responsible for the system, having taken over from the SQA. Over 131,000 learners sat exams in schools, colleges, and training centres this year, with an additional 17,000 receiving results for vocational courses.
While all learners will receive results by first-class post, 67,000 candidates who activated a My Qualifications Scotland account will also receive text messages and emails from 08:00. Support and guidance advice lines will open from 08:00 on results day.
For those who do not achieve their desired results, support is available. Qualifications Scotland's learner support hub will be open from 08:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday, and from 08:30 to 17:00 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Skills Development Scotland (SDS) will also operate an advice line from 08:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 09:00 to 17:00 on Thursday and Friday.
Appeals are possible, with deadlines of 11 August for individuals submitting priority appeals and 25 August for other individual appeals. For appeals lodged by schools or colleges, the deadlines are 20 August for priority cases and 28 August for others.
