As of 12 August 2026, British passport holders can enter more than 180 countries either visa-free, with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), or by obtaining a visa on arrival. This includes over 100 destinations that offer entirely visa-free entry for specified periods.
For example, UK citizens can stay in Albania, Argentina, and Brazil for up to 90 days without a visa. Other destinations, such as Angola, Belarus, and China, permit visa-free stays of up to 30 days.
While many countries are visa-free, some require additional steps. Travellers to the Dominican Republic must complete an electronic entry and exit form online before travel, even for a 30-day visa-free stay. Similarly, Jamaica requires a C5 immigration/customs declaration card for visa-free stays of up to 90 days.
In the near future, UK passport holders travelling to over 30 European countries will need to obtain an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) before arrival. This will be a compulsory step for visa-exempt nationals entering these countries, including popular destinations like France, Germany, and Spain.
