More than 20 antiques were stolen from the National Trust's Baddesley Clinton manor house in Warwickshire during a break-in last month. The theft, which occurred on 30 July, saw 25 silver, pewter, and brass items taken from the 16th Century property.
Among the stolen pieces is a Georgian silver salver, engraved with the coat of arms of the Ferrers family, who resided at the house for approximately five centuries. The National Trust stated that this particular piece bears the mark of Dorothy Mills, one of the few registered female silversmiths active in the 1700s.
A spokesperson for the National Trust expressed hope that the objects would be returned. The organisation also noted that the distinctive markings on the silver salver may aid in its identification if offered for sale.
