At least 21 people have been killed and four others injured following a head-on collision involving a minibus and a lorry in southern Brazil. Local officials confirmed the incident, which took place on the BR-373 highway in the state of Paraná.
The crash occurred at approximately 04:30 local time (07:30 GMT) on Wednesday. Local media reported that the minibus belonged to the health authorities of Imbituva and was transporting patients and their relatives to health appointments in Ponta Grossa.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. The highway is currently closed at kilometre 209 as forensic experts and members of Brazil's federal highway police examine the crash site.
