Bud, a blue-fronted amazon parrot, was adopted at the beginning of the Covid pandemic in 2020 by an RSPCA Norwich animal welfare head. Initially intended as a short-term foster, Bud became a permanent part of the household.
Upon adoption, Bud was approximately 200g heavier than a typical parrot and had a crisp addiction, which prevented her from flying. She was placed on a strict diet due to health concerns, including a fatty lump, or lipoma, on her keel bone that requires monitoring.
Now 28 years old, Bud has successfully lost weight and her feather quality has improved. Her owner describes her as a "diva" with a strong personality and a good sense of comedic timing, often shouting "Bye!" during conversations or whistling at builders.
