The Great British Bake Off's 17th series, which started last month on Channel 4, includes a paediatric doctor and a drag king among its amateur bakers. The contestants are currently competing to be crowned the 2026 champion.
This series sees TV cook Nigella Lawson join the judging panel, following Dame Prue Leith's departure after nine series. Paul Hollywood returns as a judge, while Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond continue as presenters.
Among the bakers are Yannis, a 28-year-old paediatric doctor from London, and Gabe, 32, a costume designer and drag king from the West Midlands who performs as Blu Romantic. Other contestants include Clara, a 24-year-old marketing graduate from Portugal, and Connie, 63, an NHS hospital discharge lead known as 'the cake lady'.
Danni, a 25-year-old service centre administrator, was the first contestant to be eliminated after failing to impress during biscuit week.
