Palantir has settled its High Court battle with Sadiq Khan’s policing office regarding a blocked £50m Metropolitan Police contract. The settlement, announced on Wednesday, sees both Palantir and the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) withdraw their allegations.
The US tech company will now be welcomed back into the bidding process for the contract, which involves providing AI technology to help the Met automate criminal intelligence analysis. The dispute originated in May when MOPAC blocked a proposed two-year contract for Palantir.
MOPAC stated its decision was based on governance, affordability, and value for money, and not Palantir’s ethics, correcting any contrary impression. The mayor’s office also confirmed it had no policy against contracting with Palantir.
Tom Watson, Palantir senior vice president, welcomed the settlement, noting the case aimed to establish fair application of public procurement rules. Khan also acknowledged Palantir's contribution to jobs and investment in London.
The settlement concludes proceedings that were scheduled for a full High Court hearing in January 2027. Both parties will cover their own legal costs, which had a combined potential budget of over £8m.
