Pamela Anderson, the actress who became a global sensation playing CJ Parker in the original 1990s series, has stated she has no plans to return for the upcoming Baywatch reboot. Speaking to Deadline, Anderson, now 59, confirmed that no one from the production had reached out to her regarding an appearance.
Anderson acknowledged that her sons had at one point been in discussions about producing the new series, but indicated that those talks did not progress. Despite her well wishes for the new venture, she made it clear her own focus is on new and diverse acting opportunities rather than revisiting past roles.
The original Baywatch, which first aired in 1989, became one of the most-watched television series globally during its 12-year run. It launched the careers of numerous stars, including Anderson, David Hasselhoff, and Carmen Electra, and was previously revived as a film in 2017 starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
The new television reboot, co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, is set to feature Stephen Amell, Shay Mitchell, and Brooks Nader. It will consist of 12 episodes and is scheduled to air during the 2026-2027 broadcast season, with Burn Notice creator Matt Nix serving as showrunner.
Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, expressed enthusiasm for the reboot, stating that the original series "defined an entire era of beach life." He added that the new iteration, developed with Fremantle, Matt Nix, and original co-creator Greg Bonann, aims to bring the "California dream" to a new generation with fresh stories and rising stars.
