Argentina's Leandro Paredes has been hit with a 10-match ban and a $90,000 (£66,000) fine by Fifa's disciplinary committee for his involvement in a brawl at the end of last month’s World Cup final against Spain. Nahuel Molina also received a seven-match suspension and an identical fine.
Thiago Almada was given a one-match ban and a $30,000 (£22,000) fine, while coaching staff member Roberto Ayala was banned for three matches and fined the same amount. Spain’s Gavi also received a one-match ban and a $30,000 fine.
The Argentinian football association (AFA) faces a $321,000 fine related to the display of a banner reading “Las Malvinas son Argentinas” after their semi-final victory over England. This fine also covers breaches of Fifa’s anti-discrimination regulations by Argentina supporters at other World Cup matches. As a result, the AFA must play their next home match at 50% capacity, with a further 50% capacity restriction suspended.
