A 22-year-old passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight from Dallas Love Field Airport to Los Angeles International Airport died last Friday after suffering a medical emergency. The man, identified as Rain McMillan Walmsey, became unresponsive during Southwest Flight 958.
Someone on the plane administered CPR while it was still in the air. Upon landing in Los Angeles, paramedics met the aircraft, but were unable to revive Walmsey, and firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.
The specific type of medical emergency Walmsey experienced has not been disclosed, and the cause of his death remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office. Southwest confirmed a "medical incident involving a customer" occurred on the flight but did not provide further details.
