PayPoint, a leading retail network in the UK, has partnered with Citizens Advice to inform households about available support for energy bills. The move comes as energy costs continue to be a significant concern for many UK families. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the average household energy bill has risen by over 50% in the past year, placing a substantial burden on household finances.
The joint initiative between PayPoint and Citizens Advice aims to raise awareness about the various types of support available to households struggling to pay their energy bills. This includes council tax support, heating cost grants, and other forms of financial assistance.
The partnership will see PayPoint locations across the UK display information and guidance on energy bill support, making it easier for households to access the help they need. Citizens Advice will also provide free, impartial advice and support to households struggling with energy debt.
Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero, Grant Shapps, has welcomed the partnership, stating, 'Every household deserves access to affordable energy, and this partnership will help make that a reality.'
The Labour Party has called for more action to address energy costs, stating that the government's energy price cap has not gone far enough to protect vulnerable households.
